Éric Rohmer's 1969 black-and-white film, set on a snowy Christmas Eve, in which a devout Catholic engineer's carefully built moral world is unsettled after he spends the night with the intelligent, seductive Maud. The Garden calls it both an unconventional holiday film and a pillar of arthouse cinema. Starring Jean-Louis Trintignant and Françoise Fabian; in French with subtitles.
