Ahilan Kadirgamar, senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Jaffna, traces a century of youth movements in Sri Lanka, from the anti-colonial Jaffna Youth Congress of the 1920s to the 2022 uprising in which young people from all communities forced out an authoritarian president. He considers what these movements suggest about social and economic alternatives amid an unravelling global order. Presented by the Program in South Asian Studies; online RSVP available.
