Held in conjunction with the exhibition "Joyce J. Scott: Declarations," artist Joyce J. Scott talks with Joanne Hyppolite, supervisory curator of the African Diaspora at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Scott, a 2016 MacArthur Fellow, reflects on a career that has challenged the perceived hierarchy between craft and fine art, drawing on her Baltimore upbringing and her mother, quiltmaker Elizabeth Talford Scott. Art@Bainbridge is open 4–8 p.m. that evening for visitors to see the exhibition.
