Maria E. Moreyra Garlock, Daniel Tsui Professor in Engineering, gives the third talk in the Fall 2026 HMEI Faculty Seminar Series, examining how the shape of near-coast structures such as bridges, flood barriers and breakwaters affects their performance under wave action. Drawing on experimental and numerical studies, she points to opportunities to strengthen coastal resilience. Free and open to the public; lunch is available in the Briger Atrium at 11:45 a.m., and the talk is also livestreamed.
