Taking its cue from Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.'s description of photography as "the mirror with a memory," this display of photographs from the Museum's collections questions photography's claim to represent its subjects truthfully. Some works give visibility to different communities and shape public opinion, while others foreground how images are staged, altered and exploited. On view December 20, 2026–June 6, 2027; free.
